When someone calls me about espresso catering in Wilmington, the first thing I usually have to explain is that it is not a coffee box and a stack of cups. It is a real espresso bar that comes to you. The Common Tides trailer rolls up to your event with a commercial espresso machine, locally roasted beans, and me behind the bar pulling every shot to order, the same way a good coffee shop would, except the shop is parked at your venue.
I have set up the bar at office parks, a hospital campus, school events, farms in Burgaw and Castle Hayne, real estate open houses, and wedding mornings across the Cape Fear coast. This post covers what espresso catering actually looks like on the day, what your venue needs (almost nothing), and how to book it. If you just want the service details, they live on our coffee and espresso catering page.
Serving a corporate crowd. Every drink is made to order at the trailer window.
What Espresso Catering Actually Means
Espresso is a method, not a flavor. It takes a machine with real pressure, a grinder dialed in for that day's humidity, and someone who pulls shots all day long. That is the whole point of bringing the trailer instead of dropping off carafes: your guests order what they actually want, and it is made fresh in front of them.
Guests walk up to the window and order exactly like they would at a coffee shop: espresso, americanos, lattes hot or iced, cappuccinos, mochas, matcha lattes, hot chocolate for the kids, a London Fog for the tea person in every crowd. Oat and almond milk are always stocked. The full lineup is on the menu page.
The beans are roasted here in North Carolina from coffee grown in Cerrado Mineiro, Brazil, and the matcha is ceremonial grade, sourced directly from a family farm in Shizuoka, Japan. Small operation, but I am picky about what goes in the cup.
Your Venue Needs Almost Nothing
This is the part that surprises event planners the most. The trailer is completely battery powered and self contained. No generator humming through your speeches, no extension cords across the lawn, no water hookup. I need a reasonably level spot to park and about 25 minutes to set up, and then we are pouring.
That self contained setup is why the bar works in places a normal caterer struggles with: a field at a farm wedding, a parking deck at an office event, a beach access lot, a downtown sidewalk. If the trailer can park there, the espresso bar works there.

How Booking Works
Tell me about your event at book.commontides.com: the date, the location, roughly how many people, and how long you want the bar open. I respond within one business day with a quote built around your event. Most events book two to four weeks out, and spring and fall weekends go first, so reach out as soon as you have a date.
